Crossings Youth Dance Company (aka. CYDC) has been back in the studio since August preparing for our 2024/25 season! There are no words to describe the JOY, PASSION & DEDICATION these dancers bring to their art form 💕
This inspiring youth dance company is a Calgary faith-based performance group that provides an outlet for young dancers to develop their artistic skill and gain performance experience. Through mentorship of the whole dancer (body, mind, spirit) CYDC hopes to expand the dancers understanding and integration of faith and art.

CYDC presents The CALLING
The CALLING is a captivating contemporary dance performance that tells the story of awakening to one’s true identity, purpose, and divine calling. Through powerful movement, the work journeys from restlessness and struggle to healing, blessing, and boldness. Rooted in the truth that each of us is deeply loved and created with intention, The Calling invites audiences to experience the beauty of being known, chosen, and sent out to live and love with purpose.

Audition registration opens March 9th!
Audition Times & Divisions:
9:30 - 11:00am - DIVISION 1 (Junior 1 & 2)
11:15 - 12:45pm - DIVISION 2 (Inter 1 & 2)
1:00 - 2:30pm - DIVISION 3 (Pre-Voc & Voc 1)
2:45 - 4:15pm - DIVISION 4 (Vocational 2 - 4)
How to prepare:
Register based on current 2025/26 class level
Registration is required
$20 (+gst) Audition fee to be paid upon registration
Dancers - Arrive 10-15 min early, wear your set dance attire, bare feet, bring a bottle of water, and be prepared to dance your heart out!
Parents - A Parent Information Meeting will be help at the start of each audition, 1 parent from each family is expected to attend.
Crossings Youth Dance Company is a faith-based performance group that provides an outlet for young dancers to develop their artistic skill and gain performance experience. Through mentorship of the whole dancer (body, mind, spirit) CYDC hopes to expand the dancers understanding and integration of faith and art.
The CYDC experience:
Week-long August Choreographic Intensive (August 17-21, 2026)
Weekly Saturday rehearsals (all major holidays are taken off)
Learn 3-5 new dances a season
Work with local, national or international choreographers
Full scale theatre production (March 2027)
Perform repertoire around Calgary in churches, schools and community events
Weekly devotional time related to the annual theme
Mentorship, Discipleship and Community
Group bonding
Travel opportunities

Crossings Youth Dance Company (aka. CYDC) is a Calgary faith-based contemporary dance company that provides an outlet for young dancers to develop their artistic skill and gain performance experience. Through mentorship of the whole dancer (body, mind, spirit) CYDC hopes to expand the dancers understanding and integration of faith and art. CYDC's ministry as a company is to be a bridge between the church and dance community, providing the church with excellent and thought-provoking dance and bringing inspiring dance into the community.
CYDC provides an outlet for dancers to develop their performance skill and gain artistic experience they cannot get elsewhere. The season kicks off with an August choreographic intensive and continues into the fall with weekly Saturday rehearsals. Dancers get the opportunity to work with local, national, and international choreographers, creating a production to be performed in February/March. The dancers are mentored in their journey to connect their dancing and faith through devotionals and community building activities. As well, through performance opportunities in churches, schools, senior homes and community events CYDC desires to give back to the community and inspire others.
INTERSECT, a division of CYDC, is a pre-professional training company for dancers (ages 16-20) who are in the intersection between youth and professional training/performance and are interested in pursuing dance as a career. The CYDC dancer experiences:
Week-long August Choreographic Intensive

Working with 3 - 6 choreographers a year (depending on division)
Learning and performing repertoire around Calgary in churches, schools and community events

Devotionals related to annual theme
