Weekly in-class teacher assistance

Quarterly teaching opportunities

Associate examination preparation

T.E.A.M HELPS TO DEVELOP AN UNDERSTANDING OF DANCE PEDAGOGY AND CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT.

T.E.A.M STUDENTS ARE MENTORED AND EVALUATED IN THE AREAS OF:

  • Class planning

  • Methods of technical instruction (Demonstration, Observation, Adaptation)

  • Use of touch/cuing

  • Manner and clarity of voice

  • Rapport with students and teachers

  • Taking initiative and responsibility

Students who are 13 years or older, enrolled in Ballet, Modern & Jazz, and have an interested in teaching are encouraged to participate in our T.E.AM Program. Students assist alongside Crossings faculty in a variety of class levels and styles and are evaluated throughout the year by their T.E.A.M mentor/teacher. This highly informative and practical program provides students with a deep understanding of pedagogical practices and mentorship. Students who are interested in pursuing a career in dance teaching gain first-hand experience to explore and hone their skills. Past T.E.A.M students have found they were well prepared for University dance programs and Teaching Associates in ISTD and RAD.

This program is comprised of both Student Helpers (younger students who are in their first year of T.E.A.M) and Assistant Teachers (mature students who have been involved in T.E.A.M previously). Participants are expected to attend their assisting classes weekly, arrive early, engage with the students and assist with the Year-End Dress Rehearsal and Recital.

Further details regarding each role will be discussed individually between the T.E.A.M teacher and student.
